The New York MTA provides essential transportation services for the public throughout New York City and the surrounding areas. Its rail system functions around the clock and transports an average of 5.9 million passengers every day. The authority has a network of 24 rail yards where trains undergo maintenance, repairs, and cleaning to maximize the performance of fleets and create a cleaner environment for passengers.
The Challenge
With rail fleets operating continuously throughout the day and night, the MTA had limited opportunities to wash its trains. The transit organization needed to find a high-capacity washing system that could handle a large fleet of railcars without having its schedules delayed or maintenance times extended.
